VSA'S MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Corporation shall be to improve the facilities, treatment and environment for the benefit of animals impounded at governmentally sponsored animal shelters throughout the State of Rhode Island and at such other animal shelters as shall be approved by the Board of Directors, from time to time; to assist in the reunion of lost pets and their owners; to promote the adoption of animals from shelters; to promote humane education by conducting educational programs; to assist local governments and others in promoting leashing, licensing, inoculation, spaying and neutering; and generally to do and perform any and all acts incidental to the foregoing purposes; but not for pecuniary profit or financial gain of its officers or directors, except as permitted by Rhode Island Law.


Volunteer Services for Animals (VSA) is a Rhode Island non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt humane organization established in 1979. VSA's Federal Identification Number is 05-0381306.

WHAT WE DO:

  • Help people who cannot afford the full cost of spay/neuter or emergency veterinary care
  • Help rescue homeless animals
  • Help  trap and rescue feral cats 
  • Facilitate adoptions of dogs and cats after rescue
  • Provide food and medicine for animals in need
  • Help injured/orphaned wildlife
  • Advocate for humane laws to protect all animals
